What happens when young minds are given the courage to imagine, the opportunity to create, and the platform to tell their own stories? At Dawn Michaels School, they become authors.
The atmosphere was filled with pride, excitement and emotion as Dawn Michaels School hosted its inaugural DMS Young Writers Gala, the first of its kind in the school’s history. It was an extraordinary celebration of creativity, imagination and the power of the written word, as five Junior Secondary School students stepped forward—not simply as pupils, but as published authors.
At such a young age, these remarkable students had achieved something many only dream of: seeing their own names proudly displayed on the covers of books they had written.
It was a moment that touched everyone in the room. The sight of our young authors holding their published works brought tears of joy and pride to the eyes of the Director and some parents, as they witnessed first-hand what their children had accomplished.
Five Young Authors. Five Remarkable Stories.
The gala celebrated five young writers and their published works:
Amal Sheidu — Crashing the Time Line
A captivating story that takes readers on a journey through time.
Ezihe Chidubem — The Beautiful Beast Within
A thought-provoking work that explores identity, self-discovery and the story within.
Asuku Daniel — The Last Message on the Wall
A compelling story that draws readers into a world of mystery and anticipation.
Nnadike Chukwudalu — Piercing Through The Needle’s Eye
A remarkable work from a young writer demonstrating imagination and literary confidence.
Oke Tiwatope — Beyond the Ghost Writer: Author of My Own Name
A powerful declaration of identity, authorship and the courage to own one’s voice.
Each book represented far more than words printed on pages. Behind every title was a young person’s imagination, determination, discipline and willingness to turn an idea into something real.
Celebrating Young Voices
The occasion was honoured by the presence of Dr Mary-Joan Nwaogu, who served as the special guest and reviewer. She reviewed the books and shared her thoughtful remarks and encouragement with the young authors, making the occasion even more meaningful.
The Director, Mrs Uchenna C. Ndulue, the P.T.A. Chairman, the Head of School, the Principal, members of staff and the were also present to celebrate this remarkable achievement alongside the students and their families.
As the young authors stood proudly with their books, there was a palpable sense of possibility in the room. Their achievement reminded everyone present that when children are given the right environment, encouragement and opportunity, their potential can extend far beyond what we imagine.
For the students, it was a moment to see their ideas become tangible. For their parents, it was a moment of immense pride. And for Dawn Michaels School, it was a moment to celebrate what happens when young people are encouraged to find their voices and use them.
The DMS Young Writers Gala was more than a book launch. It was a celebration of imagination, courage and possibility.
It was proof that great stories do not have to wait for adulthood to be told.
Congratulations to our five young authors. May this be the beginning of many more stories, many more books and many more remarkable achievements.
At Dawn Michaels School, we are not only raising children who read stories.
We are raising young people who have the confidence to write their own.
Get a Copy of Their Stories
The stories do not end with the launch.
The books written by our young authors are available for purchase at Dawn Michaels School and on selected online platforms, including Amazon.
Parents, members of our school community and book lovers can support these young writers by getting a copy, reading their stories and encouraging their journey as budding authors.
Every copy purchased is more than a book. It is a reminder to a young writer that their voice matters and that their stories are worth telling.
