Last week, Dawn Michael School observed Mental Health Week, reinforcing the importance of kindness, self-care, and emotional well-being. Through engaging assemblies, heartfelt discussions, and interactive activities, our students embraced the importance of kindness, self-care, and emotional well-being.

During one of the assemblies, the Deputy Head of School, Mrs. Dimegwu shared the meaning of mental health and why it’s essential to speak kindly to others. Year 3 students emphasized the power of kindness, while Year 4 brought this message to life with a drama highlighting the importance of kind words and actions.

Beyond discussions, we explored practical mental health strategies:

  1. Being kind to ourselves and others
  2. Talking to someone we trust
  3. Getting enough sleep
  4. Practicing the 4-7-8 breathing exercise for relaxation

To close the week, students took a pledge to nurture their mental and emotional well-being:

I promise to take care of my mind and body.
I am loved, I am kind.
My emotional well-being is healthy.
So, help me God… Amen.

This week was more than an event—it was a reminder to prioritize mental wellness every day because at Dawn Michael School, we believe that a healthy mind builds a brighter future!
